Snow really does provide polar bears some pretty good insulation from the cold icy outside air to let their own internally generated heat keep them warm. It may not be quite like our home’s insulation which measures an R-Value (a measure of thermal resistance) of about 3, but it’s not bad at an R-Value of 1 being that polar bears have several feet of insulation around their den.

I suspected something like this (an Iglo build of snow instead of ice), but I didn’t expect them to make it that small π

It doesn’t look as if Wally’s positioning is very comfortable.
They should make it bigger and have tons of tunnels and then they could control antartica from their underground base. ^_^

Skua Fact I Just Started.
The Brown Skua (Catharacta antarctica) is often referred to as Antarctic Skua (or vice versa); the taxonomy of Skuas is still a matter of dispute. Other names (probably owing to the high level of hybridization in this species) include Southern Great Skua, Southern Skua or Subantarctic Skua. The New Zealand MΓΒori call it Hakoakoa. It breeds circumpolar in the subantarctic and antarctic zones.
The smaller it is, the easier it is to keep warm!

Awww. Polar bear homes really are like that too. They’ll build them on a bit of a hill, and angle the door upwards for ventilation purposes. Usually they only build homes when they’re going to give birth though….oO
That is not a pleasant thought, Cat, but it would be a pretty cute baby, a fat little bear cub with downy grey penguin fluff, that waddles around on four legs. I can imagine that thing being the sweetest or most terrifying thing ever. It would have to be extreme in any case. It could be ferocious…or voracious. OR! It could be a lovable doofus (or what I like to call a Boobus (this is not a reference to breasts, until right….now! Get a life, jeez, don’t take everything the wrong way!)) Of course that require one of them to actually be a girl, but I think if that were the case this comic would not be as cool. I mean a girl would actually be smart, and use the rocks, with snow, to build a fortress to be assaulted by an army of penguins…
This was the answer I was looking for: That black stuff is dark soil that has some how been uncovered by the the slightly less cold glow of the antarctic sun.
“The beaches in Antarctic are a little different. They are basically ice beaches except for some areas in summer that the dark soil and rock see water. Though weary of Orcas (Killer Whales), its not so much penguins but seals on beaches that see this scenario. Its just a hard life here and weΓ’β¬β’re going to have to be hardened to itΓ’β¬Β¦ and stay out of the water. Personally IΓ’β¬β’m sticking to snow castles with Wally.”

Skua Fact.
Skuas are related to gulls, waders, auks and skimmers. In the three smaller species (all Holarctic), breeding adults have the two central tail feathers obviously elongated and at least some adults have white on the underparts and pale yellow on the neck, characteristics that the larger species (all native to the Southern Hemisphere except for the Great Skua) do not share.
BTW the skuas that were in the comic are Brown Skuas.
Also. Im dissapointed sorta that the new comic isnt out yet. Didn’t you promise a new one 3 days ago on the same day?

hey guys i was a HUGE reader of the comic at funbrain but stumbled across this site glad i can post now great work tyler on the comic
and can i ask why they are not comics evey day like at the other site
Commy, it is because Tyler is in the middle of manny projects and, while Funbrain is many comics behind us, it can just take comics from this site even if Tyler hasn’t posted a comic yet. For example: Fun brain is still on the comic “Like Taking Candy From A Baby” and even if Tyler dosn’t post A new comic tommorow, Funbrain can go onto “Guilt Belly”. But if Tyler dosn’t get his butt in gear Funbrain is gonna catch up and start having to slow down with us. So wake up and finish thoose projects and start on more comics before they do catch up! ! !
