Borborygmi is a scientific term for your stomach’s growling noises. The reason your stomach makes that sound is actually because it’s empty, your stomach tries to squeeze together to digest food but there is nothing there but gasses and digestive juice. Grrggllee!
It’s funny when your stomach makes a really loud noise that everyone in the room hears. It’s not like other noises you can control, it’s like its own little person with a voice trying to be heard. You feel partly responsible but on the other hand, it’s not like you chose to make this funny noise. I usually try to back my stomach growls up with a “so there” or “I’m 100% behind him on this topic”, then I usually go get something to eat.

Heh, yeah Tux, I could have made it a bit more clear, but I try not to overexplain things since I sometimes tend to do that. Perhaps if the comic was called tummy growling and not borborygmi, heh.

Have you ever noticed how stomachs never grumble until a room goes entirely quiet?
I heard there is a world record for the loudest stomach grumble, measured in decibals.
I however, do not know how loud the record is. Must be kinda loud, because my uncle can make his stomach sound like a small dog growling with ease.
I agree Kevin. Once we had this incredbily mean teacher, who forced us to be silent whislt working, I ahdnt eaten anything for two days and It suddenly growled. Sounded like a fart. of course, very embarassing…
Borborygmi has got to be one of my all time favourite words! It’s so onomatopoetic… heheheh. I love your strip! It’s taken my a while to catch up, but I am very glad I didn’t just start with the most recent and go from there; what fun I would have missed! I found you thru’ Dog Eat Doug (another very funny strip) and have put you on my daily list. Keep ’em coming…
