It’s been long argued whether the Kodiak bear or the polar bear are the largest. Depends how you look at it I guess. The Kodiak is a subspecies of the brown bear, and the polar bear is closely related to the brown bear. The largest Kodiak bear from the wild was 2,500 lbs and there are records of them reaching 13 feet tall (wellfed in a zoo a bear like that can reach over 3,000 lbs). The largest polar bear on record was 12 feet tall and weighed 2,200 lbs. On average though, male Kodiak bears stand taller whereas polar bears weigh quite a bit more.

CorelDRAW X3
Well, I had been trying out the demo and I finally went and bought the upgrade so I now have the latest and greatest software that I use to do this comic. Nothing like a box of new software, the shiny CD’s and crisp books, that stinky smell of printer chemicals. I usually learn the basics to a software program, get the newer versions with new bells and whistles, but still just use the basic stuff I know. So basically new versions just make it more complicated for me, heh. I think I’ll learn some of the advanced features on this though, it’s even got some video tutorials and stuff. Maybe learn some tricks and shortcuts to make my work quicker and better.
I could do the comic in some other program, or my other styles, but I just like it the way it is. There’s just some magic in it you can’t understand. That I can’t understand. We paid some people to understand it but they were fired last week.
Corel was actually just in the news, could be a good move or exposure for them. They’ve been around a long time but have had some rough times. The article referred to Corel as “ever-scrappy”. Heheh, those little scrappers. I like supporting the underdog. They are usually cheaper and work harder to be more competitive.

According to our local zookeeper, Kodiak bears are deathly afraid of hardboiled eggs. It seems that for Easter they have a habit of putting hardboiled eggs in many of the animals exhibits to celebrate. Well, they couple of times they tried it with the Kodiak bears the bears refused to go into their habitat until the eggs were removed. Just one of those strange but true nature facts that exist out there.
Maybe they just didn’t want to be embarassed if they couldn’t find all the eggs.
Hey, do you know if different kinds of bears can interbreed? What color would the offspring of a polar bear and a brown bear be?
A beer coloured bear?
That’s interesting Gwen, must put off some kind of smell.
That’s a good question John, I’d read that one reason they believe the polar bear and brown bear are pretty closely related is they can breed and their offspring are not sterile. Have to do some research on which traits are more likely to be passed on. Probably end up with a large brown bear since the polar bear doesn’t have any color in it’s hair.
Nice question, well there’s something close to that, there are known inbreeds like breeds between horses and zebras which evolved into a small but new part of the animal-chain, so it might be possible but no idea if they will be normal, sterile or whatever.
By the way Tyler, if you want I could translate your comics into Bulgarian, I’m sure lots of people in my country would like it 🙂 If you’re up to it tell me 😉
By the way happy Baba Marta, it’s a holiday in Buglaria, we celebrate it by wearing a martenitsa ( twined tasseled red and white thread, symbol of healt and spring ). We wear these until we see a stork, so half or maybe full month until that happens. It’s only celebrated here because it originates form here, anyway have a happy day and whatever 😉
theres probabley somewhere online you can translate stuff into bulgarian, or you (alexander) could copy and paste the pictures to a paint thing, delete the words, and put them back in bulgarian:-)
I like the subtle shading in the third panel.
Alexander, maybe so. It would be interesting to see how translation would work. Would require a lot of extra time in effort. When I get a chance to put something together for it and you have some time you want to put into it I suppose we could give it a shot.
i think that wally was closer. 🙂
i’m wondering how osbourne made it thet tall…
weid
I used that ending pannel as a quote in my report
