Update… I’m Alive!

Hey, just wanted to let you guys know I’m not dead. I had that two weeks of jury duty, then not long after that the baby came. I got behind in projects and have had to work like a mad man to get them all done, illustration and website work that I do freelance. The good news is that I’ve gotten all caught up, the bad news is that I’m moving this week and there is lots to do. So once I get settled back in then we’ll get back to updating, I have so many comics written out and can’t wait for the chance to create them.

One of my many projects was actually developing a couple websites for my Lunchbox Funnies buddy Trade Loeffler. Each site is for the comic adventures of his characters, Zip and Li’l Bit. You can read their completed story, The Upside Down Me and then get to reading their brand new adventure… The Sky Kayak. I used my ComicPress theme to create the sites, of Trade’s design, but modified it for some nifty features like zooming of the comic panels, and then being able to navigate in zoomed mode as well as visual archives. Anyway, while I’m finishing getting moved and stuff, go read Zip and Li’l Bit, they are fantastic! And Wally and Osborne will be seeing you again soon.

It’s a boy!

I’d like to let everyone know about my latest creation, Rhoan Forest. Well, I’m a co-creator anyway… my wife gave birth to a beautiful baby boy yesterday in the wee hours of the morning. Monday was our appointment with our midwife, as well as our last birthing class, then later that evening my wife started having contractions and he came right on his due date, August 14th.

rhoanforest.jpgIt was a water birth, he was born right at home in the tub. It was a wonderful and amazing experience. He is so beautiful and is currently… as well as wonderfully… consuming our time. So just a little less time for Wally & Osborne for a few more days, I know they will understand as I’m sure you will too.

Hope everyone else is enjoying themselves one way or another. I know school is starting for many of my younger readers, I know a good amount read Wally & Osborne there. If your school computers have limited internet access, make sure they at least have Funbrain.com available (it’s school friendly) because you can read Wally & Osborne (as On the Rocks) there five days a week!

smallthomas.gifIt was a lot of fun creating the hand-drawn detailed version of Thomas (our resident emperor penguin juvie bully) for this comic from last week. The original art for it is now available for sale, first come, first serve. I’ve also got high-resolution prints available. And if that’s not enough, go check out the downloads page for new Thomas wallpapers. We’ll make a celebrity of that boy!

Wally & Osborne turned two yesterday. I launched the site on July 4th, 2005. I can’t believe two years has already gone by. It’s been fun though, and it still feels like they are only just getting started.

Sorry about no updates this week, guess it’s Wally & Osborne Anniversary break. ;)

Hope you have been enjoying the more regular updates, we’ll get back on schedule next week. Have a good weekend!

Speaking of Video Games & Penguins…

I’m sure many of you have gone and seen the new Surfs Up movie, a surfers story told using penguins. I had the chance to the other day, but saw Evan Almighty instead, so I still need to go see it. Anyway, I downloaded the game demo for it the other day and it’s actually pretty fun for a surfing game, definitely worth trying out the demo if nothing else.

Also thanks to My Game Company, an independent family-friendly game developer, who’s been advertising their Dirk Dashing: Secret Agent game here on the site all week. If you get a chance, go download that game demo as well.

Now you can game it up this weekend. And after that, go get yourself some paper and crayons and make your own gaming system like Wally, you’ll be the hit of all your friends… or hit by them.
