: Deserted Island: Pudding
Jan 16, 2006

So… Wally’s vegetarian resolve is not entirely impenetrable. Polar bears can go to desperate measures when they get hungry enough.

I’ve seen this nature show called Polar Bear Battlefield. It goes into the survival of polar bears. There is this part in the summer, when the polar bears are hungry and their icy hunting grounds are melted. Normally they are loners and would not hunt together other than as a cub with their mom, but they all come together on this island of a ton of walruses (actually several tons), not the first choice in the polar bear’s diet, especially with those dangerous tusks. Needless to say it was a huge bloody battle and in the end the bears did not go hungry.

Also, walruses, like polar bears, only live in the Arctic and not the Antarctic.

    Dude,

How come you aren’t in a newspaper syndication yet????

    I love this comic.

Heh, just think of the method Osbourne used to mash it up.

Brian, um, I don’t know, I guess the papers just aren’t worthy of Wally and Osbourne. =)

If my local newspaper had Wally and Osborne in it, I’d buy the paper everyday. If not buy a lifetime subscription….

You should apply to a few newspapers with your best strips (Such as the snowball fights) and you might get lucky. You’re definately skilled, no doubt about it.

A lot of webcomics are by enthusiastic amateurs. Some of them develop into more professional-looking productions over time. On the Rocks has been a professional-looking strip right from the start, in fact it’s a lot better than some newspaper strips I could name and it definitely deserves wider recognition.

Just don’t let all this praise go to your head or you won’t be able to get through the door.

Hmm, both On the Rocks and 8-bit theatre feature the word “talky” today. It’s conspiracy I tell thee!

Quality comic by the way, I hope you do end finding a paper for it.

    I agree and disagree…

The joy of having your own web comic and not in the papers is you can run the comic as you wish and have your own deadlines, do it more of a leisure and hobby. Newspapers have strict deadlines and a comic would need to be sent in to be published EVERY day.

Plus newspapers comics Monday through Saturday are black and white. To me that would take away from what this comic has already =]

Tyler Martin must be a reincarnation of Bill Watterson. Keep up the good work!

  9. Swade aka Klawful says:

Tyler Martin must of been a polar bear in his past life, and a penguin the life before that. Thus, im guessing he’ll be an alcoholic seal in his next life….
