Actually Osbourne is a bit shorter, chubbier and has a bigger nose than the other Adelies. He will always be a beautiful and unique snowflake to me, one with just a little bit of dirt in it.

I believe this is the fourth parachute scene in the comic. Of the four, only one of them was successful. Apparently there is also a lot of falling. =)
Or Osbourne & Wally Airlines but the OW means so much more. I really enjoy seeing the boys using their imaginations. Probably couldn’t find any other penguins crazy enough to ride down with them.
Osbourne, yet again trying to achieve greatness. Sometimes its best to start small. I’m pretty sure he just has Wally along with him to pull the sled up them hills.
I actually borrowed this gag from another comic strip I did a long time ago for another comic. In it two funny alien creatures were trying to escape a prison. The smarter one had assembled a huge scary catapult to launch them over the prison wall. He told the dumber of them that he could go first. I guess it goes along with that whole letting a little brother or sister test something first to see how dangerous it is. Poor little guys.
I know many were concerned about Max leaving the comic. He was never really supposed to be a “character” in the comic. Just more of an object without personality to use for some gags. But then he went and stole the show, and our hearts. So you are probably relieved to know that nothing bad happened to him. Instead, he wound up in one of the countries closest to Antarctica… Argentina. He has become world famous with his children’s show. And yes, he’ll have to return some day to the comic to visit his adopted parents. I think his new show will make for some nice wallpapers or even a T-Shirt design. Speaking of wallpapers, I added a new one of Osbourne with his love of the orange. You can get there by clicking on the “Downloads” button above. I also added some icons including AIM icons.
No Business Like Penguin Business
On the subject of penguins like Max in show business, penguins have been seeing a lot in the movie industry lately. I finally caught a showing of “Madagascar” a couple weeks ago, the penguins were really humorous, apparently they are Adelies. I like how they finally make it all the way to Antarctica (they are escaping a zoo thinking that it will be their wonderful free homeland), and when they finally make it there, it’s just ice and a cold wind blowing, and they just stand there and say… “this sucks”. Speaking of them, they will be having their own short film that will play before the new Wallace & Gromit movie coming out, “The Curse of the Were-Rabbit”. Also in theaters is the Emperor penguin documentary, “March of the Penguins”, that I still have not seen! I hear it’s really good though and I will catch a showing soon enough. Also there is an animated film in the works about Emperor Penguins called “Happy Feet”. The story is that the penguins find their soul mates through song, but the main character cannot sing… but he can tap dance. It will be starring the voice talents of Robin Williams, Nicole Kidman, Elijah Wood, Brittany Murphy, Hugh Jackman and more. So, congratulations to penguins and all their success.
You might want to remember this method in case you are ever frozen in ice. Also I’ve heard of a similar method used on one’s feet when one cuts them on the coral in the ocean… I’ve heard of the method even helping Athlete’s Foot… I’ll stop now.
If Batman lived in Antarctica, this could be his cave. He could hop on his Batboat and speed right out into open water.
Well, another one of those Antarctic blizzards that can last for days shows up in the comic. Actually in the strip where Osbourne says that they are “hardcore”, Wally was reading about these blizzards in the “Antarctica’s Big Book of Facts” (which is a totally fictional book by the way). It’s also in these storms that seals and penguins can get lost, and head inland away from the sea. In this case they head out towards the sea as Max had wandered out on the ice (the ice being the ice shelf that surrounds Antarctica). Don’t worry though, it’s not the end of Wally and Osbourne. However, this is the last week for Max here “on the rocks”. You’ll have to wait until Friday for the ending of this little storyline. Apologies to you Max fans out there, hope you weren’t thinking he was a new permanent character.
